It’s All Coming Together
by B.C. Raines on 10/18/18
Well, Sisters, I am growing super excited about the days ahead. You may recall some time ago I wrote a post encouraging us to keep moving ahead towards accomplishing our goals because we just maybe closer than we think are. Well guess what? I kept moving forward and my goal of having a published book is almost achieved. Actually, I launch the book on December 1, 2018 at the Downtown Library in Montgomery, AL. (Yes, I know--a shameless plug…wink, wink.)
It's All Coming Together!
Sisters, when I tell you that this feels surreal. It REALLY does! I sometimes have to ask myself, is this really happening? Ok, what do I next? I also think back to the process and all the steps that have been taken (and am still taking) to get here. Sisters, it’s all coming together!
I continue to encourage you to set your goals and work towards them. Even the smallest step taken forward is still a step forward. It puts you closer to achieving your goal. Don’t discount the small seemingly insignificant steps. All steps, especially the forward ones, are significant.
Keep moving cause it’s all coming together! Sister U Matter!®
Loving You
by B.C. Raines on 09/27/18
You know as women, we nurture and take care of everyone; everyone, that is, except ourselves. We generally pour so much into everyone else around us that we have absolutely nothing left to give to ourselves. Today’s post is just a simple reminder: be intentional about loving you. Make it a priority. Be creative with how you love you. Schedule it. No one can love you better than you can love you.

It's Recovery Time
by B.C. Raines on 09/20/18
Hey, Are you recovering from anything? A sickness, heartbreak, loss of a loved one, a financial, emotional or physical set back? I think if we are honest with ourselves, we are all recovering from at least one something. Recovery is something to celebrate. It indicates that we are moving forward and out of the dire situation(s) that once had (what felt like) its death’s door grip on us.
Did you know that September is National Recovery Month? The focus of this campaign is to increase awareness and understanding of mental and substance use disorders and celebrate the people who recover (https://www.recoverymonth.gov/). But in my B.C. fashion, I’m encouraging each of us to not only celebrate others’ recoveries but also our own recovery. I don’t think we give ourselves enough credit for the forward steps we take. Sisters, we have overcome some stuff. We are overcoming some stuff and guess what…we’ve got some more stuff to overcome.
It’s recovery time! Celebrate!

We’re In This Together
by B.C. Raines on 09/13/18
Repost
I have been talking with several people, men and women, over the last few weeks. It has become even more apparent to me that we are all going through something. The issues have not been the same but you know what has been the same—our hurt, our struggle, our disappointment, our frustration.
I want to encourage you to treat each other, especially sisters, with kindness, respect and gentleness. You have no idea what that other is going through just like they may not have any idea what you’re going through.
I think, like never before, we have to embrace our responsibility regarding each other. We have to be committed to encouraging each other, to support one another and to remind each other that Sister U Matter!® Sister, we’re in this together.
Sisters, regardless of what is going on your life, you have purpose, authority, influence and a legacy. You still have something absolutely beautiful, awesome and unique to add to this world. Without you, there would be a huge void.

To What Name Are You Responding?
by B.C. Raines on 08/30/18
Ok. So, they call you victim. They call you a mistake. They call you failure. How do you respond? Do you respond at all? You know you have a choice, right? Just because someone calls you a name, doesn’t mean you have to respond to that name. For example, my name is Bakeba. I am generally not going to respond if I’m addressed as Barbara. (Believe it or not, that is a common mispronunciation of my name.)
Let’s try it this way. To which of these names are you going to respond?
Victim…Victory Failure…Flair
Test…Testimony A_ _…Asset
Mess…Message Stupid…Stupendous
Defeated…Defining Mistake, mishap…Mission(ary)
Trial…Trailblazer Terror…Terrific
Bitter…Better Ignorant…Igniting
You see. The choice is yours. What will it be? To what name will you respond?
